Bramshaw Golf Club

Forest Course

Built around 1865, the Forest Course is the oldest course in Hampshire and with its open aspects and rolling heathland, is in complete contrast to the Manor Course. The ever-changing scenery of humps, hollows and meandering streams test golfing skills and judgement within an idyllic setting. The prospect of a deer emerging from the trees or a mare chivvying her foal across the fairway gives the Forest Course a special and unique appeal.

The Forest Course is sited on open "common" land and as such, local commoners can graze their livestock on the golf course. Don't be suprised to see New Forest ponies, donkeys, cows and pigs at certain times of the year. Like other New Forset golf courses, some greens on the Forest Course are fenced off in a traditional style to protect them from the more heavy footed individuals.

The Forest Course in 2018

The new Forest Course layout was opened on Friday 18th May 2018. In the reconfiguration project, a new hole was built to replace the "old" 15th hole, changing from a par 3 to a par 4. This was the first new hole to be built on the common at Brook in over 70 years. This follows the re-design of the old 1st hole (now the 4th) in the winter of 2016/17; changing from a short par 4 to a long par 3. For more information on the project please visit

The map below shows details of the new course layout:

Buggy Restrictions on the Forest Course

Due to special restrictions placed on the common at Brook as a site of special scientific interest (SSSI), special area of conservation (SAC) and special protection area (SPA) we are unable to allow the use of buggies on the Forest Course. Single seat, ride on buggies are permitted at owners own risk with permission from the Office.
